It’s 5 years on since this blog began, and as it is for most entities moving around is part of life. After not being accessible for awhile, today we’ve moved from froginmythroat.no-ip.com, hosted by the good people at BCMPWeb, to our new home at froginmythroat.com, hosted with the so far so good people of WordPress.com.

As part of this we’ve moved to Wordpress version 2 and a slightly different look. Since they are hosting it they will handle all future maintenance such as software and security upgrades. This will free up time for me to concentrate on the more important work of actually writing blog posts…… hmmm…… we’ll see.

Migration to WordPress

As of July 2005 froginmythroat has been migrated from phpwebsite 0.7 to WordPress 1.5, an open-source blogging platform which provides the following advantages:

- RSS feeds for syndication and subscription to posts
- Integration into the blogosphere with automatic pinging. This lets other sites, such as technorati, know you have updated your blog
- The above features plus the storage of photos on flickr provide greater integration into the semantic web

FrogInMyThroat is launched!

15 December 2002, drip fed via a 56k modem from an internet cafe near Psar Thmei, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, whilst overstaying my visa, FrogInMyThroat is born!

Why?

Inspired by Sam’s travel site

Wanting a more permanent record of my travels to show my unborn children (“back in the good old days, traveling in SE Asia…blah blah”)

Birthed from the loins of the group email

To keep in touch with family and friends and

Maybe provide some useful info to travellers

So there are still a few php/mySQL errors, and I’ve got to sort out a .com domain name, but what the hell, internet domination is near! Mu-hahaha!
