An important person to know in any town is the local dealer. I have been here a week now and I have already been in contact with a regular supplier five or six times. My colleague had established initial contact and took me to see him on one of the first days I was here.
We walked into his shop and his minions showed us into his office, an air-conditioned room at the back. After handshakes he reclines into the depths of his black leather chair, lights up a cigarette and offers them around. My colleague avails himself of a cigarette. Drinks are brought out. The current US/rupiah exchange rate is discussed and how it is affecting “business. We ask him how much the goods are and when he can get them for us. He makes a phone call or two and says he should be able to supply them tomorrow. He can even deliver them to our house to save us a trip into town. ‘It’s Saturday, so what are you doing tonight? Do you want to go out for coffee?’ he asks. Sounds good, we agree.
The next day the computers arrived, delivered to our door, just like he said.

…whats he charge for a gram of RAM man? And check if he’s pushing Sound Blasters. I’d pay top bucka for a clean untouched circa 1992 model…

I checked with him and all the Sound Blasters were swept away in the tsunami and have washed up on a desert island somewhere in the Indian Ocean. But how bout a Smell Blaster (circa 1993, slightly used, some smells missing)? Will swap for an monochrome green screen or mint condition 5.25 inch floppy drive.
